every argument i have heard for being a luddite is performance art and makes me mad. i am still open to it because certainly the phones cannot be good for us, and i want everyone to figure out how to make themselves sane. but it's always now the same type of person who does it, and it's a type of person who is mean spirited but determined to make their perceive identity "nice." i also feel like if my life is full in other areas, i just don't go on my phone/seek sociality as much that way anymore.
i lean more luddite, but your last point is 100% right — when our lives are full, there’s less reason to be online past the point that it’s good for us. I think people want to think that their life will be magically fixed after putting the phone away, but it probably won’t! people still want technological solutions to social/spiritual issues

I actually agree with you that not fostering a good/tolerable online is a bit of a skill issue, i go crazy on here but then i find out that it’s because i’m looking at the random algo and not the people i follow. Everyone that i follow is awesome and beautiful
the default algo on here is so weird every time it switches me on the mobile website I’m like 😵 I think bluesky has similar issues but I’m not on there, and then obviously the X algorithm is bad. Microblogging might just be fundamentally bad for “discovery” vs Instagram reels where it shows me videos I like most of the time. Unsure! I like who is on here that I actually follow

Most of my frustration is the idea that seeking sociality on your phone is fundamentally bad, which has basically never been true in my life
